This beautiful limestone sculpture is by Louisville artist Mike McCarthy. We named it Flora and Zephyr. There is a concrete pad underground and then a layer of crushed granite. It weighs 12,000 pounds and was lowered into the garden from the street by crane. We worked with Mike to create the general design, and then let him work his magic. Over a dozen animal faces are peeking out from the flowing hair, including a loon in honor of my home state of Minnesota, and also a bat and an armadillo in honor of the 25 wonderful years we lived in Austin, Texas. In the background you can see the entrance gate from the sidewalk.
