My name is Tim Tassin I am a back yard hybridizer working a full time management position in the pre-cast concrete industry. I started hybridizing daylilies in 1998.

My wife and I have a 3 acre lot in St. Amant, Louisiana. I grow my daylilies in raised beds made of 2 x 12 treated lumber, and are 5' W x 40' L.

Carolyn and I had a beautiful 9 month old seedling bloom on November 30, 2009. As soon as we saw it we knew it would be named. It was a very large bloom, at 9lbs, 3 oz. and 22" tall. We decided to name it Caden André Tassin. He is the first child for us. At the age of 43 and Carolyn at 36, Caden is now 2 years old and on the move. We spend time in the garden and fishing in the pond. He loves to call the ducks up to the house to feed them bread.

My garden is strictly a hybridizing garden. I do not collect daylilies for landscape anymore. I now only plant around 400 seedlings each year. I am very cautious about the crosses I make and have found success in that. I am culling fewer plants, but have just as many keepers as I did when planting 800 each year.

This is truly more of a hobby for me, as I don't sell many plants at all. I enjoy donating as many as I can to our local clubs for giveaways and for spring plant sales. I get more in return for the heart and soul than money can bring.
