I picked up this 'GARDEN' sign at a local nursery, and it's over 6' long. I pestered my husband for over a year to find a way to put it into the garden, perhaps securing it to fence posts. In the end, he decided to nail it to the roof of the garage, which was a perfect way to dress up an otherwise ugly roof! The garden is built into a hill, as is the garage. One of the blessings, and perhaps curses, of the roof location is that the asphalt shingles give off a lot of heat on a sunny day. I thought perhaps this would help the daylilies overwinter, but so far I'm not sure it makes a difference. On a hot summer day, it can be 10 degrees warmer in the back garden than it is on the lake side.
