"The Garden of Bill and Linda Pinkham"
Since appearing here previously, we have expanded the "landscape garden" part of our property from approximately 1 acre to approximately 2.5 acres.
We achieved this by purchasing a next-door property. Bill, the "artiste" and designer, was thrilled tp have more space to make more beds. Linda was thrilled to be able to move her seedlings from another site.
Jen Reed somehow convinced the Tidewater Daylily Society to host another AHS/ADS National in 2027, 10 years after our first one. Ours was a tour garden then and we plan to be one again. So, we are in the process of redesigning the main daylily beds and hope they bedazzle! Also, visitors will be able to tour the seedling beds this time and offer opinions.
Linda has been hybridizing for tetraploids with black scapes for several years. Her first one, 'Gilded Ebony' (which appeared as a surprise) was crossed with Jamie Gossard's 'Heavenly Black Knight' to create hundreds of seedlings. The best of those were crossed with each other and with Jamie's 'Black Flame Dragon'. After narrowing these down to 10, I finally selected 1 each of yellow, orange and red-flowered seedlings to register. In 2024 I registered 'Orange Licorice Stick' and 'Black Stockings Yellow Petticoat. The red one will be a future intro.
Linda sells named daylilies through Plantstep.com and The Lily Auction (daylily.com).
