"Four Seasons in a Country Garden"

spacerWelcome to my garden, located in the north-western part of Poland, on the Kujawy. It's a beautiful area here, with a lot of forests, lakes, rivers and picturesque hills.

spacerMy country garden occupies an area of approximately 5000m2. It consists of two parts: the front garden and garden proper. Both parts are arranged in a uniform, natural style. The front garden serves as an ornamental garden, and the proper garden serves as a meeting place and where we have the barbecue. In this part there is also a small garden pond. In the proper garden we have an intimate secret nook in the formal garden style, with a lot of plants; Syringa, Viburnum, ground cover roses and lavender dominate. This place is ideally suited for solitary contemplation.

spacerThe origins of this garden dates back to 1998, when we first selected an area for different plantings of deciduous shrubs. Deciduous trees and bushes are my favorite plant. They predominate among the garden resulting in every season looking very different here.

spacerI'm a great lover of plants in my garden. I collect primarily various species and cultivar of Sorbus, Syringa, ornamental apple, Viburnum, Philadelphus, roses, Hosta and more. However, the greatest gift of my love are daylilies. I deal with these plants for only 4 years, but I have a collection of 630 varieties and still want to increase it.

spacerAmong my daylilies there is an honorable place that pays tribute to the varietes of Polish hybridizer Stefan Franczak who died in 2009. His are very resistant plants, bloom profusely with beautiful lasting flowers and many of them are fragrant.

spacerMy favorite group of daylilies are Spidery and UFO's. I have several dozen varieties, and now I intend to devote more attention to them. Of course, like many breeders, I wait for an interesting creation to develop.

"With great pleasure I invite you to my colorful garden - a walk through the Four Seasons"

spacerSpring: Actually it is not known when the spring begins here, because despite the lack of foliage and flowers, the garden is happy and colorful. When spring finally comes, very young leaves of shrubs emerge, then their flowers follow. Invariably a mixture of different perfumes usher in this special season in paradise.

spacerSummer: This is a time for the explosion of various colors. Every step you encounter plants such as shrubs with colorful foliage, blooming profusely, and among the shrubs grow colorful tall flowers. There are sun loving Siberian iris , Delphinium and shade loving Hosta, Heuchera, Heucherella, Tiarella, Astilbe and other plants. On hot summer days it is nice to hide in the shadows of birch trees growing near the pond garden.

spacerAutumn: A spectacular season in the garden. Initially the fiery color timidly penetrates into the dark, somewhat monotonous green foliage. No one knows when the fiery color will embrace the whole garden, and when it does, the plants shimmer in different shades of yellow, orange and red, to dark brown.

spacerWinter: Lack of foliage allows you to see and appreciate the qualities of many other decorative plants. Apple trees, ornamental Sorbus, little fires and cotoneaster attract the eye with different colors of fruit. It is a paradise for birds that are popular here. And when it snows, you can admire the red, yellow and green dogwood shoots, Scotch broom, Japanese kerria and bent shoots of various willows and hazel. It's now time for the conifers to play the leading role in the garden.

spacerI hope that the walk was pleasant for you. Thank you for visiting. I will be happy to hear from you. Please email me at: elagrano1@wp.pl. My new Liliowce webpage is also online if you would like to see more of my photos.
